2015 Stonebridge Art & Photo Expo:
Date: Saturday, September 19th Noon-6pm
Setup – Friday evening
Breakdown – Immediately following expo.
Volunteers are needed Friday to help assemble and set up tables, position panels, hang pictures, etc.
Participation is limited to paid-up members only.
All participants are asked to make a contribution (picture or other piece of artwork) to the raffle.
Pictures may be framed or simply mounted. If framed and you wish to hang on panels there must be a secure wire attached. “Sawtooth” hangers are not recommended. All frames must be supplied by maker as the club’s frames will be in use and not available. The SPC will not be responsible for damage caused by insecure attachments.
The number of entries permitted will be determined by the number of participants.
Entry selections are determined by the maker. The only restriction is that they be decent and non-offending. Age of pictures is not a factor.
Picture sales will be allowed but must be discreet with minimal advertising. The club has no participation in these sales.
At this time I am asking who would be (or not be) interested in participating and approximately how many pictures you would like to enter. This is not a firm commitment at this time- just trying to get an idea of how much space we would need. Please email back as soon as possible.
More will follow as it becomes known.

+ March 10th Competition - Theme "Still Life Photos"
The Tuesday March 10th meeting will be a competition session. Photos may be submitted in both Open and Theme categories. The theme for the session will be "Still Life Photos". The judge for the session will be Alan Bogard.
Club members may submit up to six photos in their competition class (AA, A, B) across the Open and Theme categories. At least one photo must be submitted in the Theme category.
It would be helpful to go to the workshops on Jan 30th and Feb 11th for helpful hints and techniques. The Board has also provided the following as a definition of what constitutes a "Still Life Photo" (Click HERE to see the source and related links):
"Still life photography is a genre of photography used for the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically a small group of objects. It is the application of photography to the still life artistic style. An example is food photography.
This genre gives the photographer more leeway in the arrangement of design elements within a composition compared to other photographic genres, such as landscape or portrait photography. Lighting and framing are important aspects of still life photography composition.
Popular still life images include groups of flowers, food, and desk space, but still life photography is not limited to those 3 categories. Typically, still life’s are not close up to the subject nor far away, but at a very medium angle. The art in still life photography is often in the choice of objects that are being arranged and the lighting rather than the skill of the photographer."
The competition categories have been set up on the PhotoContestPro website. The deadline for submitting photos that you want to be reviewed will be midnight of March 6th, four days before the competition date.)
